About this car
1973 450SL at Daniel Schmitt & Co. in St. Louis, MO. 1973 Mercedes-Benz 450SL in Saint Louis, MO | Daniel Schmitt & Co. The dealer's own page marks this car sold — it stays listed under the SOLD banner for reference and is left out of the price averages. Harvested from the dealer's own website on Nov 2, 2026 — confirm availability at the source before travelling.
What the photos show
- silver paint looks glossy and the side panels look straight in this single side view, no repaint obvious from here
- a shiny hoop is visible upright behind the seats, which is not standard SL trim, so check what it is before valuing the car as stock
- the soft top is down, so you cannot judge the top fabric or rear window and a new top would cost real money
- black interior is only glimpsed, so you cannot judge the seats properly
- dash is not shown close up, so you cannot judge the wood or dash cracks
- engine bay is not shown, so you cannot judge the engine at all
- underside is not shown, so you cannot judge rust or leaks, which matters most on an early R107
Money: at the $26,400 sold price the one photo shows a clean silver early 450SL, but the top, interior wear, engine and underside rust were all unseen, so the price rested on trust.
