About this car
This 1978 450SEL is offered on eBay by monzacar in Sherman Oaks, CA. It is listed at auction: the current bid stood at $1 when the listing was collected on November 3, 2026, with bidding scheduled to end on November 6, 2026. The car is finished in Gray over Black, an automatic gearbox. The odometer shows 115,526 miles. The eBay title does not name the model; the car's VIN identifies it as a 450SEL. On a W116, rust in the sills, floor edges and around the front and rear screens is the main concern.
What the photos show
- silver-grey paint is glossy and the panels look straight, no paint bill showing
- chrome grille, bumpers and trim are bright, no re-chrome money needed
- black seats front and rear look good with no splits seen, no need to reupholster
- dash and gauges are clear, odometer reads 115,526, no dash money needed
- console wood is faded and the shift knob leather is badly crazed, a wood-and-knob refinish is the interior bill
- an aftermarket Alpine radio and a Clifford alarm keypad sit in the console, originality money if that matters to you
- chrome aftermarket wheels are cloudy and water-spotted, a polish or a swap back to stock wheels costs money either way
- rear underside shows scraped, worn undercoating on the tank and floor, surface protection to redo, no holes seen
- the engine bay is not shown in any sampled photo, so the engine bay can't be judged
Money: a presentable 450SEL whose needs are cosmetic, faded wood, crazed knob and cloudy wheels, with the engine bay unproven, and the $1 price in the data is a placeholder, not an ask.
