About this car
This 1977 450SL is offered on eBay by dama6112 in La Verne, CA. The asking price is $25,000. The car is finished in Black over Tan, an automatic gearbox, power from a V8 engine. The odometer shows 60,000 miles. On an R107, check the front subframe mounts and the soft-top well for rust, and on the V8 cars the timing-chain guides.
What the photos show
- Finished photos show glossy black paint, but the gallery also shows the car masked up in a body shop with trim and lights removed, so this is a fresh respray to inspect, not original paint.
- Chrome bumpers on the finished car look bright, no re-chroming bill showing.
- Tan seats and door cards look clean and complete, no retrim needed on what is shown.
- Dash looks tidy, with an aftermarket wood-rim wheel fitted, originality buyers should price that in.
- Hardtop is fitted in the finished photos and looks clean, no hardtop repair showing.
- Soft top is only shown half-raised in the body-shop photos and looks intact, but I can't judge its finished fit from these pictures.
- Trunk looks clean and carpeted, no trunk repair spend showing.
- Engine bay is not shown in the sampled photos, so I can't judge the engine from these pictures.
- Underside is not shown in the sampled photos, so I can't judge the floors from these pictures.
Money: At $25,000 you are paying for fresh black paint — check the respray quality and panel fit in person, because a poor respray is expensive to redo.
