About this car
This 1974 450SL is offered on eBay by shibbiy3k in Van Nuys, CA. The asking price is $16,500. The car is finished in Blue over Blue, an automatic gearbox, power from a 4.5 engine. The odometer shows 129,441 miles. On an R107, check the front subframe mounts and the soft-top well for rust, and on the V8 cars the timing-chain guides.
What the photos show
- Metallic blue paint looks glossy and even from all sides, no repaint needed on the panels shown.
- Chrome bumpers and grille look bright and shiny in close-up, no chrome bill visible.
- Blue seats look clean and well shaped with only light creasing, no need to reupholster.
- Dash looks uncracked and the interior trim and carpets look tidy, no dash spend needed.
- Engine bay looks complete and fairly clean with some dust and aged plastics, budget a service rather than bay work.
- Bundt wheels look clean and tires look presentable in profile, no immediate tire spend visible.
- Soft top and hardtop are not shown in the sampled photos, the car is open in every shot, so I can't judge the top fabric or window.
- The last two sampled photos show a different darker green SL in a hillside setting, not the blue car, so the gallery mixes in another car.
- Underside is not shown in the sampled photos, so I can't judge rust or leaks underneath.
Money: At $16,500 the blue paint, chrome and blue interior look strong for the price, but confirm both tops are included and sound, since no top is ever shown.
