About this car
This 1972 V220d is offered on eBay by aurevoir62 in Long Beach, CA. The asking price is $2,800. The odometer shows 150,000 miles. The seller's model field reads 'V220d', which is how the car is recorded here; the listing gives no VIN, engine or description detail that would confirm the exact model.
What the photos show
- The trunk badge reads 220 Diesel — the listing title 'V220d' is garbled, but the car is a W115 diesel sedan
- Blue paint is chalky and faded all over, a repaint is the big money
- A large patch on the roof has worn down to primer, more proof the paint is finished
- Rust streaks run down the rear quarter under the trim and around the trunk, body repair money hiding behind the trim
- Blue MB-Tex seats front and rear look remarkably good, no retrim money needed
- The dash pad is cracked, dash money needed
- The headliner is torn open above the rear seat with plastic taped over the hole, headliner money needed
- The trunk floor has a crusty corroded patch in the middle, floor repair belongs in the budget
- Chrome trim and hubcaps look complete and bright, no trim hunt needed
- No engine bay photo appears in the sampled photos, so I can't judge the engine bay
- No underside photo appears in the sampled photos, so I can't judge the underside
Money: at $2,800 the honest interior and complete trim help, but paint, roof wear and trunk-floor rust mean the restoration bill will be several times the price.
