About this car
This 1984 300D is offered on eBay by endik325is in Cliffside Park, NJ. The asking price is $12,000. The car is finished in Grey, an automatic gearbox, power from a 3.0L Diesel I5 engine. The odometer shows 156,788 miles. On a W123, the vacuum system, glow plugs on the diesels, and rust in the jacking points and rear wheel arches are the usual places to look first.
What the photos show
- grey paint looks dull and dusty in every exterior shot, budget a full polish and detail before judging the paint
- rear badge reads Turbo Diesel and the chrome grille looks complete, no chrome bill visible
- tan seats look untorn, but the passenger seat wears a quilted cover and the colours do not quite match, budget checking what the cover hides
- dash wears a fabric dash cover, so the dash top itself can't be judged
- footwell carpet and lower trim look dirty and stained, budget an interior deep clean
- engine bay is not shown in any of the 7 photos, so the engine can't be judged
- underside is not shown in any of the 7 photos, so rust underneath can't be judged
Money: at $12,000 you get only 7 photos, no engine and no underside, so the dusty paint and covered seats do not prove enough value at the ask.
